Continuing my adventure in woodturning, a 138mm sphere with 13, 40mm spheres turned inside, all made from one piece of Honey Locust.
I made the gimbal from stainless steel, some lathe machining, silver soldering, and TIG welding. The rings were formed with a borrowed rolls machine, thank you, Leslie Donn.
The stand is turned from 3 pieces using ash for the stem and the flame decoration formed with a sabretooth burr and Dremel from boxwood, all joined with 12TPI threads using the Hope Threading Jig.
This piece was top-heavy, so there is a stainless steel counterweight in the base.
